Your Wedding Day Timeline

How your celebration unfolds, from the ceremony to the final dance.

Your wedding day should feel natural, relaxed and completely your own. While a carefully planned timeline helps everything flow smoothly, it should never make the day feel rushed.

The timings below are based on a typical 2.00pm ceremony at Amber Springs Hotel. Every wedding is different, and your Wedding Coordinator will help you tailor the running order around your ceremony, personal preferences and chosen suppliers.

The Morning of Your Wedding

The morning of your wedding is your opportunity to relax, prepare and enjoy time with the people closest to you before the celebrations begin.

Hotel bedrooms are available for check-in from 4.00pm. Access to the Bridal Suite is also available from 4.00pm, unless alternative arrangements have been agreed in advance.

Your Wedding Coordinator will be in contact throughout the planning process and will be ready to welcome you, your suppliers and your ceremony officiant when they arrive.

Your Ceremony

We generally recommend a 2.00pm ceremony, as this allows plenty of time for your drinks reception, photographs and evening celebration without the day feeling rushed.

Ceremony options include:

  • An outdoor ceremony for up to 200 guests
  • The Wedding Balcony
  • The Corrig Suite

At the end of the ceremony, guests can move directly into your private wedding arrivals area to begin the drinks reception.

Your Drinks Reception

Your drinks reception takes place in your private wedding arrivals area, with access to the gardens and gazebo when the weather allows. If the weather changes, the reception can continue comfortably indoors.

Depending on your chosen package, your reception may include champagne, tea and coffee, canapés or a pianist.

The drinks reception normally continues until approximately 5.00pm, giving you time to greet your guests, enjoy photographs and take in the atmosphere before dinner.

Time for Photographs

Wedding photographs will usually take approximately two hours, although your photographer will help you plan a schedule based on the number of photographs and locations you would like.

Popular photography locations include:

  • The gazebo
  • The Woodland Walk
  • The hotel gardens
  • The ballroom
  • The private wedding entrance
  • The staircase
  • The fairylight backdrop
  • The Wedding Balcony

While you are having your photographs taken, your guests can continue enjoying drinks, music and time together in your private reception area and gardens.

While You Are Celebrating

While you are enjoying your drinks reception and photographs, our team is quietly preparing every detail for the next stage of your celebration.

  • The ballroom is prepared and checked
  • Your table plan and place settings are reviewed
  • Menus and favours are placed
  • Candles are lit
  • The kitchen brigade prepares the opening courses
  • Evening suppliers are welcomed and directed
  • Gifts and personal items are moved where required
The Call for Dinner

At approximately 5.00pm, our Conference and Banqueting Manager rings the bell to let guests know that dinner is about to begin.

Guests make their way into the ballroom, and your wedding entrance normally takes place at approximately 5.30pm.

You can choose your entrance song, and you may also decide whether members of the wedding party enter before you.

Your Wedding Meal

A typical wedding meal takes approximately two hours. The exact timings can be personalised with your Wedding Coordinator.

5.45pm: Soup or sorbet

6.15pm: Starter

6.45pm: Main course

7.30pm: Dessert

7.45pm: Tea and coffee

Our Conference and Banqueting Manager oversees the ballroom, works closely with the kitchen and ensures the meal runs smoothly.

Speeches and Wedding Cake

Speeches most commonly take place after dessert, although the timing is entirely your choice and can be discussed during your planning meeting.

Our Conference and Banqueting Manager will help cue the speeches and keep the running order on track.

Your wedding cake will be moved by our team and prepared by the chef for your evening reception. The cake is normally cut and served alongside the evening food.

Your Evening Celebration

Your evening suppliers will normally arrive from approximately 8.00pm to set up and complete their soundcheck.

Approximately 9.00pm: First dance

10.30pm to 11.00pm: Evening food

Midnight: DJ begins, depending on your entertainment arrangements

1.30am: Main bar closes

2.00am: Music finishes

4.30am: Residents' bar closes

Your first dance, evening food and entertainment timings can all be personalised as part of your final wedding plan.

The Morning After

The following morning, you and your overnight guests can enjoy breakfast in Kelby's Restaurant.

Late checkout may be available on request and is subject to hotel availability.

Our Conference and Banqueting team will pack decorations and personal items where required. Any remaining wedding cake can also be boxed and collected the following morning.

Your Team on the Day

Quietly Taking Care of Every Detail

Your Wedding Coordinator will welcome you, your suppliers and your ceremony officiant, oversee the ceremony and remain available throughout the early part of your celebration.

As the day moves into the ballroom, your Conference and Banqueting Manager takes the lead, coordinating the kitchen, service team, speeches, wedding cake, entertainment and first dance.

Our Wedding Team's Advice

A Few Things to Remember

Eat breakfast. Your wedding day is wonderfully busy, so begin it with something to eat and plenty of water.

Take ten minutes together. After the ceremony, step away for a few quiet moments before the day gathers pace.

Do not worry about the exact minute. A good wedding timeline should guide the day, not control it.

Trust your suppliers. You chose them for their experience, so allow them to do what they do best.

Let us take care of the details. Your job on the day is to celebrate. Our job is to make everything else happen.
